This 1957 BSA Bantam D1 has not been running for 40 years or more.

Everything removed , ready for sand blasting , then etch priming.

after cleaning off any sand and dust residue, the frame is inverted and filled with waxoyl. After a couple of days standing to get air bubbles out the frame is turned back and warmed to remove excess and prepare to paint.
Bantam parts from two current projects , both D1s but different years and different colours.

Wheels, guards, handlebars, hardening before being rebuilt and refitted to frame.

The hardest part of any rebuild with new paint is the fitting of any new parts that might be slightly different in size or shape to the old or worn out originals .
especially when the frame can move.
Making a jig or stand is often a great assistance.

some parts fitted loosely, until everything in its group is arranged then adjust and tighten.

Some parts need replacing ,even on low mileage machines.
Even the unseen replacements need to be good Quality and authentic.
